Lanzarote Emergency personnel are trained in accidents with multiple victims.

The Security and Emergency Consortium has announced the face-to-face training project for first responders in multiple casualty accident situations. The objective is to reinforce and improve the training of the services, as it is aimed at all emergency personnel on the islands. The initiative was presented this Monday in the multipurpose hall of the Island Security and Emergency Consortium.

During the presentation of the course, the president of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium (CSEL), Francisco Aparicio, the director of the Canary Islands School of Health and Social Services (ESSSCAN), José Montelongo, and the head of Health of the military emergency unit of the Canary Islands, in addition to being the creator and designer of the project, José María García Domínguez.

Francisco Aparicio thanked ESSSCAN for the joint work with the Cabildo and assured that they will carry out “many more courses and projects”. He also indicated that they have begun to plan the start of 2025, taking into account the requests of the seven town councils and the Island Institution itself. “This is a joint effort for the benefit of citizen security,” he declared.

José Montelongo also wanted to thank the Cabildo for its willingness to carry out the project. On the other hand, he stated the importance of these courses, “since there are often doubts about how to carry out certain actions. Training never takes place,” he said.

For his part, José María García Domínguez, who was the speaker of the presentation, clarified that the objective of this initiative is for all personnel of the emergency services to know the necessary procedures and protocols for action.

In this line, the project, created by ESSSCAN, has been based on the characteristics and needs of both islands, thus ensuring its proper functioning in risky situations.
