The plenary of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote approved, in the session held this Monday, the file for the future implementation of an Insular Operational Coordination Center (CECOPIN) in Lanzarote. Now, with the approval of the plenary, the emergency body is working to put the contract out to public tender as soon as possible.

The vice-president and head of the Planning and Coordination of Projects area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Jesús Tovar, also attended the plenary, thus demonstrating the involvement of the First Corporation in improving security on the island. “Through the FDCAN, we are investing close to 1.4 million euros so that Lanzarote has a center where emergencies are coordinated directly, without having to go through Gran Canaria as happens currently,” she explained.

The president of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote, Francisco J. Aparicio, thanked the consortium entities and especially the vice-president for “understanding the need for our island to have an integrated emergency management system”. “We look back and see how the treatment of security has changed positively in recent years, and the implementation of this system is a giant leap towards the common goal: to attend to emergencies as quickly as possible,” he pointed out.

Now, once approved, the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote will put out to tender in the coming days the mixed contract for the implementation and maintenance of the CECOPIN on the island, for a base budget amounting to 1,367,945.86 euros, including IGIC.

“We continue to transform the way we respond to emergencies, seeking to shorten response times and expand human and technical resources to continue saving lives,” added the president of the Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio.
