The Farmer's House Museum will host this Thursday, January 16th, the island's first solidarity gala, named Embracing Diversity. The event, co-organized by the Social Welfare and Inclusion Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Business Circle of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, aims to raise funds and raise awareness of the third sector of the island.

At the presentation ceremony, which took place on Wednesday morning, the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that this 1st Solidarity Gala Embracing Diversity symbolizes "the union, commitment and solidarity of our community." "This gala is the result of a public-private collaboration that demonstrates that, when institutions, companies and associations work together, we can build a fairer and more equitable present and future for all," said Betancort.

The president stressed the work of the business sector of the island, "which not only generates wealth and jobs but also, on this occasion, shares it to strengthen social associations, a gesture of responsibility and humanity that deserves to be highlighted and applauded." "Lanzarote and La Graciosa," added Oswaldo Betancort, "are an example of a new model of governance, beyond political colors, focused on the well-being and happiness of its citizens."

For his part, the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, stated that "the purpose of this event is to generate a space for commitment and social responsibility. A culture of inclusion that permeates every action of public administrations, companies and social groups. In short, a real commitment as a solidarity island that seeks social cohesion."

Representing the Business Circle of Lanzarote, José Valle pointed out that "this milestone is just another example of the success of public-private collaboration in another aspect, in this case the social one. For me, personally, it is the most beautiful project in which I have been able to participate." "With this gala we want to value the effort and involvement of both the business community and the third sector, to achieve a fairer and more inclusive world; giving precisely the opportunity to other entities that have greater difficulty in accessing aid or funds that allow them to develop their activity," he added.

In this 1st Solidarity Gala Embracing Diversity, around twenty companies from the island, members of the Business Circle, will contribute with their financial contributions to finance a total of 40 social projects. In this sense, the manager of Adislan, Mónica Hernández, representing the social entities, valued this type of initiatives very positively and highlighted "the involvement and work that the Cabildo of Lanzarote is currently developing, listening and supporting the island's third sector at all times." Similarly, Hernández highlighted the work of the island's business community and "its social responsibility with the most vulnerable people."

The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote also collaborate with this gala, as explained by the councilor Ángel Vázquez, who was "very pleased to be part of this initiative in which more than 400 people will participate and that will benefit the citizens, especially those most in need."

After the gala, in which the artists Toñín Corujo and Acerina Toledo will perform, the total amount raised will be announced.
