The Cabildo of Lanzarote held this Wednesday, in the Plaza de Las Cruces de la Marina in Arrecife, the first commemorative event of Hospitality Day, a day that pays tribute to all professionals in the sector for their essential contribution to the economic and social development of Lanzarote.
This is a pioneering event promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote through the newly created Hospitality Area, led by Councilor Armando Santana, together with the Economic Promotion Area headed by Councilor Nori Machín, and in collaboration with the Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL).
During the meeting, the work and commitment of several professionals in the hospitality sector were recognized, highlighting their role in boosting the island's productive fabric and promoting its gastronomic identity.
The President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted about this day how the hospitality industry "is a fundamental pillar of our economy, a sector that not only generates employment, but also reflects the hospitality and identity of our people. With the creation of the Hospitality Area, the Cabildo reaffirms its commitment to the professionalization and strengthening of this strategic area for Lanzarote."
For his part, Councillor Armando Santana stressed that "it is a source of pride that Lanzarote is the first island in the Canary Islands to have a specific Hospitality area, from which we are promoting training, continuous improvement, and collaboration with educational entities, in addition to promoting sustainability, digitization, and responsible waste management in establishments."
Santana also added that the objective of this new area is to "serve as a direct channel of communication with professionals in the sector, defend the culinary identity of the land, and contribute to the excellence of the island's hotel and restaurant offerings."
With this first edition of Hospitality Day, the Cabildo lays the foundation for an annual celebration that recognizes the dedication, professionalism, and daily effort of those who are part of a sector that is key to the well-being and tourist projection of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
