The Ministry of Health updated the health alert levels this Thursday after the epidemiological report of the General Directorate of Public Health with consolidated data as of March 30, and has placed Lanzarote and La Graciosa at "low" risk.
The Health report has been prepared in accordance with the new criteria of the Covid-19 Surveillance and Control Strategy after the acute phase of the Pandemic, based on the indicators of use of care services.
The indicators of use of health services, referring to the occupancy of beds, are fundamentally those that mark the severity caused by Covid-19, and those that are taken into consideration to determine the level of health risk. In this way, five alert levels are established (from 0 to 4) that assess whether the situation is of Controlled Circulation, which would be the lowest, or of low, medium, high or very high risk.
According to these indicators, the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma are at alert level 2 or medium risk, while the islands of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Gomera and El Hierro are at alert level 1, or low risk.
Care indicators
The Ministry of Health points out that the care indicators show a favorable evolution and the daily average of conventional hospital beds occupied by Covid-19 patients remains stable and with a low occupancy percentage for the Canary Islands as a whole and for all the islands, except Tenerife and La Palma, which remain at medium risk.
The number of occupied ICU beds maintains the downward trend, decreasing by 9% compared to the previous evaluation, while the occupancy percentage is at low risk in the Autonomous Community as a whole. Tenerife and Gran Canaria are at a low risk level in this indicator and the rest of the islands remain in controlled circulation.
In the new indicator of UMI bed utilization per 100,000 inhabitants, a very slight downward trend is observed, standing at 1.19 UMI beds used per 100,000 inhabitants. The islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria are at a low risk level for this indicator and the rest of the islands remain at a controlled circulation level.
In the Autonomous Community as a whole, the Accumulated Incidence rate at seven days for people over 60 years of age stands at 381.78 cases per 100,000 inhabitants as of March 29, which represents a decrease of 12.1%, compared to the previous week. In the last seven days, this virus transmission indicator has shown a stable trend. All the islands are at medium risk, like the Community as a whole, except Lanzarote, which is at low risk. For this indicator, in the last week Tenerife and Fuerteventura remain stable, while the rest register decreasing figures.
