The Lanzarote Council allocates "more than 400,000 euros" to renew the program of financial aid for situations of social emergency included in the framework agreement for inter-institutional collaboration signed with the seven municipalities of the island.
A proposal whose purpose is to "provide assistance support" to families whose socioeconomic needs have been affected by unforeseen situations. The president of the institution, Oswaldo Betancort, highlights that "with the renewal of this agreement, support for families in vulnerable situations is guaranteed, to whom we must lend a hand to help them move forward."
This program, promoted by the Department of Social Welfare and Inclusion, whose head is Marciano Acuña, is aimed at "covering extraordinary, non-calculable or unforeseen expenses" that may arise from "unforeseen situations such as work disability due to health issues; unemployment or family situations" that affect people's daily lives. "This is a necessary measure that we are maintaining this year to prevent situations of marginalization or social exclusion from being generated in our municipalities. From the Cabildo, and in the particular case of my department, we work to promote social integration through the implementation of this type of measure," says Acuña.
The economic distribution will be made taking into account distribution criteria of the Economic and Fiscal Regime, as well as the unemployment data of each of the municipalities. Thus, the budget item is broken down as follows:
The Arrecife City Council will receive an amount of "158,961.43 euros", the Haría City Council will have an amount of "17,752.07 euros", and as for the San Bartolomé City Council, "48,712.76 euros" will be allocated. On the other hand, an amount of "56,779.57 euros" will be obtained by the Teguise City Council. The Tías City Council will collect an amount of "51,817.00 euros", in Tinajo, "20,466.40 euros" will be allocated, and finally, Yaiza will receive "45,510.77 euros".
The validity of this framework agreement may be extended by the parties involved, after processing the corresponding files without "exceeding the legal term established in four years".
