UPL denounces that Juan Monzón's trip to Hawaii will cost more than 20,000 euros just for hotel and flights

Furthermore, the formation criticizes that "the Cabildo also pays him an extra 2700 euros, the big meals, the taxis, and keeps his salary without deducting vacations"

Unidos por Lanzarote has made public the expense that actions of the councilor "plugged in" by the PP in Hawaii represent for the taxpayers of Lanzarote. "Our party has had access to more data on the expenses of the aforementioned trip: Monzón's expedition to Hawaii cost, only in terms of plane tickets and hotel, 20,123.20 euros", they assure.

According to the spokesperson for Unidos por Lanzarote, Laureano Álvarez, “the decree also includes the big meals so that Monzón would not go hungry in the Pacific. Also any transportation at any time, taxi, rental car, parking or buses. And to this we must add the daily allowances for the two who accompanied the councilor on such hard and unpleasant tasks. So we estimate that the approximate figure will exceed 30,000 euros in this costly 35th anniversary of the Ironman”.

But Juan Monzón “has not only visited Hawaii at the expense of the citizens of Lanzarote, but has also profited from his trip. The popular will receive an extra 2,700.00 euros, in the form of "compensation", a daily allowance that we Lanzaroteans pay him for such a sacrifice that this man has made. Which in these cases is about 300 euros per day. So Juan Monzón, who has been on a nine-day trip, will receive 2,700 euros, which will be added to the salary he usually earns. Of course, Monzón will feel a special affection when he hears the word Hawaii”.

From Unidos por Lanzarote they consider that, “although these practices may be legal, they constitute a model of political shamelessness that makes the absence of shame a work norm. It is laughable that the Ironman anniversary is celebrated in this way, when the 50th anniversary is celebrated, what will they do?”.

Finally, from Unidos por Lanzarote they request “that Juan Monzón pay the costs of these disguised vacations from his salary, in addition to renouncing his salary as a plugged-in councilor during the time the trip lasted and apologize publicly. We must set an example, it cannot be that politicians spend their time on vacations with everyone's money and on top of that pocket profits in the form of compensation, a real shamelessness”, concludes the spokesperson for Unidos por Lanzarote, Laureano Álvarez.
