José Torres Stinga, from the Municipal Platform of Haría, intervened this Friday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero to explain the situation of the walkway on La Garita beach in Arrieta after Compromiso por Haría accused the mayor Alfredo Villalba of not wanting to reopen it due to "hidden interests".
The councilor began by accusing Compromiso por Haría of "being a corrupt party" and of "having become a inconsiderate party". "Last week we had a plenary session where we declared Juan Santana Hijo Predilecto posthumously and the Haría awards, and out of four councilors, only one attended... After the plenary session, I went to the beach and found them there," he assured.
Furthermore, the councilor defended the municipal Government team by assuring that "there are no hidden interests because the two reports that have been made have been at our request". As you may recall, Compromiso por Haría stated that the technical report issued by the Cabildo of Lanzarote at the request of the Emergency Consortium, which informs on the state of the walkway on La Garita beach, "proved them right".
As Torres explained, the Haría City Council requested the report last November, but it was not until February of this year that a technician from the Cabildo of Lanzarote traveled to the area to make a visual assessment of the structure and check its condition.
However, the councilor pointed out that the technician prepared a report in which the real state of the walkway could not be known solely by visual inspection, but rather that "a specific inspection must be carried out to determine the state of the interior structure, as well as the support footings, to determine its structural condition, given that a visual inspection cannot specify its maintenance status".
In addition, the councilor of the Municipal Platform of Haría warned of the danger of the walkway and explained that a representative from Costas assured that "the design has not been adequate, nor has the material been suitable, nor has the execution been correct... the objective has not been met and therefore it is up to the City Council to make decisions". The report also specifies that the state of the interior concrete should be determined, but according to the councilor, "there is none".
In this regard, he has warned that the situation of the footbridge will be the same within a few years and "it is reasonable to reach an agreement and determine that it is the technicians who say what to do... if it has to be demolished, renovated or painted".
Torres accuses Compromiso por Haría of being "corrupt"
On the other hand, councilman José Torres has accused Compromiso por Haría of being "corrupt. "Ambrosio Viñoly has a kind of archaeological site of the PIL, which in December 2023 fractioned four contracts of 15,000 euros to the same company and with the same objective... what's more, he tried to repeat the maneuver, the secretary threw him out of the office and Alfredo Villalba refused to sign it," he assured.
Likewise, Torres also mentioned that in the municipal budgets "they were going to appoint an advisor, Armando Bonilla, who the Local Police had reported for illegal works and used municipal vehicles to block the streets".
On the other hand, he also pointed out problems that occurred with the blue zone of Órzola, which has caused many citizens to park and have been fined.
