José Carlos Roger Toledo has been elected this Saturday, October 24, general secretary of Socialist Youth of Lanzarote at the congress held at the Casa del Pueblo in Arrecife.

The president of PSOE of Lanzarote, Marcial Martín, welcomed the attendees. Subsequently, Benjamín Perdomo, from the local committee of Arrecife, spoke. The meeting was attended by representatives from all socialist groups on the island, from Comisiones Obreras, and from the Mararía association.

Also present were the general secretary of Socialist Youth of the Canary Islands, Tomás, and its organization secretary, Raquel Benasco, as well as Sergio Hernández Hernández, secretary of Health of the federal executive of Socialist Youth.

The organization begins a new phase with an executive committee that will work for access to housing, equality, and the defense of quality public education and healthcare, fundamental issues for the youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa to develop their lives with autonomy and opportunities.

The new general secretary thanked the militants for their trust and highlighted the responsibility of building an organization close to the reality of the island's young people. "Being able to access housing, study regardless of your economic circumstances, or receive care in public healthcare are rights that we must defend. Young people need answers that allow us to build our future in our land," expressed Roger.

The congress elected a new executive committee with the following composition:

General Secretariat: José Carlos Roger Toledo.

Secretariat of Organization and Social Inclusion: Thyrmac Barreto Bastida.

Deputy General Secretariat of Education, Vocational Training and Communication: Agustín Viñoly García.

Deputy General Secretariat of Economic Affairs: Lucía Hernández Bermúdez.

Secretariat of Equality and Housing: Moneyba de León Corujo.

Secretariat of Culture and Municipalism: Alexia Hernández Dizy.

Secretariat of Health and Universities: Daniela Hernández Betancort.

"We are driven by the conviction that things can change and the desire to do it together. We want more young people to join, bring their ideas, and make this organization their own. We have an island to work for and a great desire to start," concluded Roger.
