Jonás Álvarez received the support of the members of Primero Teguise to be re-elected president. Last Saturday he celebrated his first general congress, to which all his members were called, to give continuity to his project, where in addition to various presentations and statutory modifications, the election of the Presidency and with it the Executive Board was also carried out.
The day began with the analysis of this year and a half; starting with the creation, implementation, electoral results and finally the work developed during the last 17 months by the party's Management Board. Next, the organization of said congress wanted to include presentations external to the formation itself in the event, and for this they had the figure of the former mayor of the municipality of Teguise, José Dimas Martín, and also the former senator for the island of Lanzarote, Joel Delgado. Both guests explained to the PTG members their experience in municipal and island politics, in addition to generating a debate with the presentations of the political formation itself.
Next, the secretary of the congress announced the candidacies presented for the presidency of the party, with only the one presented by Jonás Álvarez existing and which was approved and supported unanimously by the members present and represented at the I General Congress of the formation.
After being appointed president of Primero Teguise, Jonás Álvarez addressed the plenary and began by thanking the members for the work they have done to carry out the congress, in addition to welcoming and thanking the attendance of colleagues from other political formations.
The councilor in the Teguise city council also stated that “politics needs to build bridges between political formations and put aside the barricades and walls that make us lose contact with our neighbors. If there is something we must recover from past times in Teguise, it is political harmony and unity.” In addition to demanding changes in the ways of doing politics, Jonás Álvarez warned that “our work and that of political parties should not be at odds with seriousness, elegance and understanding, without forgetting firmness in the defense of our neighbors.”
“Political formations belong to the people and we owe ourselves to them,” Jonás explained to the members of his formation, reminding them that “we must continue to demand improvements, listening and working together with the neighbors, because that is the commitment we acquired when we take the step of entering politics.”
Jonás Álvarez concluded his speech by announcing the party members who will accompany him on the Executive Board of Primero Teguise, which would be as follows: Antonio Fuentes as vice president, María del Mar Cedrés as general secretary, Víctor Sanz as general coordinator, Diego García in the position of youth secretary, Marta Menchón as secretary of organization, Jonathan Betancort as economic secretary, Rosa de León remains as secretary of affiliation and Miguel Guadalupe as secretary of advertising and RRSS.
