Jacobo Medina (PP), counselor of Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, intervened this Tuesday in the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to, among other things, talk about the internal tension in the Popular Party and deny a new rumor that accuses him of "not working".
The counselor began the interview by assuring that he is fully immersed in his work. "At least I can say that I work 365 days a year, maybe some people cannot say the same," he pointed out. Regarding comments that he is not in his office, the head of Public Works defended himself by saying that "where I have to be is in the street with the people solving problems and visiting the works."
In this regard, Medina wanted to emphasize the different rumors he has had to face on several occasions during the last year and pointed out that "absolute barbarities have been said."
"I have a back that will withstand carts and wagons. I have a family that listens to the radio and the barbarities that are heard, they try to generate rumors to destroy you personally because the polls give you good ratings," he expressed. "Sincerely, I tell each and every one of these characters that they will not be able to defeat me, I say it loud and clear," he continued.
Along these lines, the counselor of Public Works revealed that he has "swallowed lumps for a very long time because it has been very hard," emphasizing that on many occasions this damage has been from "friendly fire."
"I have a family and I will not allow under any circumstances that I be discredited as a person, because honestly I am a hardworking, humble, and honest person who they have wanted to leave on the street in order to destroy me and I will continue to move forward to fight for the interests of Lanzarote and for my dream," he stated.
Furthermore, regarding his announcement on these microphones of wanting to re-nominate himself to lead the PP in the insular Cabildo, the counselor indicated that "perhaps I made the mistake of saying that I had the desire and the strength to do so." As he recounted, "from then on, certain things happened that truly surprise me, but I already warn navigators that anyone who tries to destroy me with rumors or falsehoods will not succeed."
However, he made it very clear that his idea of leading the Cabildo of Lanzarote remains present "even more so today if possible because the objective I have is to move forward with the main problems that the island of Lanzarote has."

During his speech, Jacobo Medina stated that he had heard that "friendly fire paid certain journalists to destroy the image of both the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and my own."
"Sincerely, I am in politics out of a vocation for public service, I am not in politics to be there my whole life. There is life after politics and I do not cling to politics like a drowning man because I believe that politics also needs to be renewed from time to time and that fresh air should come in. Some people understand politics as a profession, but I understand it as a vocation for public service for a short period of time," he said.
Despite this, Medina assured that he will be on the electoral list in 2027 if the party allows it. "One works daily to achieve objectives that involve solving the problems of the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. I have more strength than ever because sometimes stones in the road make you see, analyze, and reflect," he emphasized.
