Isidro Pérez once again demands that the Canary Islands Government dismantle the Montaña Mina wind farm

Wind Farm in Montaña Mina

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, is once again demanding that the Canary Islands Government dismantle the Montaña Mina wind farm, located in the municipal districts of San Bartolomé.

The mayor denounces the failure to comply with the commitment acquired by the regional Executive to remove all the mills by last April, already almost half a year late. “It cannot be that the Government of the Canary Islands, which is responsible for this competence, has removed one of the mills to escape the pressures of the City Council and that, alleging economic reasons, has not dismantled the facilities in their entirety even in the month of September”, Pérez reproaches.

Likewise, the mayor reiterates the danger that these facilities pose to the safety of citizens and reveals that one of the mills is again suffering problems that will pose an imminent risk to the population of the municipality and the Island.

“That is why we demand again that these facilities be removed immediately, given the state of absolute ruin in which they are and the danger to integrity that they pose, with a mill at risk of exploding, and given the neglect of the regional government with the commitment acquired”, insists the mayor.

“It is no longer just an environmental issue, but also a security emergency, as reflected in reports from the Police and Fire Department. We recall that the City Council of San Bartolomé, when coastal phenomena damaged the Avenida de Playa Honda, was immediately restored with total speed, as a public administration should proceed and without economic excuses”, defends Isidro Pérez.
