The Ministry of the Interior will announce a general merit-based competition through which it intends to fill 51 positions in the National Police at the Arrecife Police Station. According to La Voz, these positions will be filled starting in the summer, and as the newspaper points out, the commissioner will decide where the officers will be assigned.
As La Voz reported, the creation of 51 positions in the basic, sub-inspection, and officer ranks of the Police is being considered.
When the competition is published, the General Directorate of the Police will have two months to resolve the awarding of positions. Meanwhile, possession must take place within three days if it is in the same locality from the publication of the resolution or in a different one but does not imply a change of residence, and within one month if it requires a change of residence.
Lanzarote will be the most benefited Canary Island by the increase of new officers in its staff. Most of the positions offered will cover positions as police officers, while one officer position and three sub-inspector positions will also be offered.
Currently, the Arrecife Local Police Station has 49 officers assigned to border posts, according to data from January 31.
