The Ministry of the Interior is preparing a resolution to call a general competition of merits for 51 positions in the basic, sub-inspection and officer scales of the National Police of Arrecife.
Once the competition is officially published, the General Directorate of the Police will have two months to resolve the awarding of places. Meanwhile, possession must be carried out in three days if it is in the same locality since the resolution is published or in a different one but does not imply a change of residence and, within a month, if it requires a change of residence.
If this draft is fulfilled, the National Police Station of Arrecife will have 47 new police officers, the island where more agents would be incorporated from the total of 239 places that are planned in all the islands. Added to this is a vacancy for a police officer in the capital of Lanzarote and three for sub-inspectors in the same police station.
Currently, the Arrecife Local Police Station has 49 agents assigned to border posts, with data from January 31. Last year, these agents had to attend to more than four million passengers from outside the Schengen area and who, therefore, need to pass border control and have their passports stamped.
According to La Voz, there is currently 95% occupancy in the staff, so the catalog of jobs must be increased for this year to offer these new places. At the moment, it is not known where these agents will be assigned, but police sources suggest that "the vast majority" will cover the Lanzarote Airport.
These new places that are offered would be resolved in the month of June and would be covered in the middle of the summer, in the month of July.
