The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Santana, visited the Órzola dock this Monday to learn firsthand about different issues related to the port's operability.

According to the City Council, the meeting addressed the problem of "noise pollution" generated by the shipping companies that operate in the area, with daily connections to La Graciosa, as well as the parking of vehicles of tourists traveling to the eighth island, "which continue to cause damage to residents in the northern town."

Public officials also met with fishermen who fish in the north of the island, who conveyed their concerns, since new pontoons were installed for these boats last year.

The Haría City Council recalls that it has been demanding for years "that the promised investments be expedited, giving priority to the construction of pontoons and the improvement of the berthing line for ships, as well as the expansion of the breakwater and the ramp of the cargo barge that operates with the island of La Graciosa."
