The Political Council of the PIL approved this Thursday to close a government pact with its former party colleague, Gladys Acuña, to govern in the municipality of Yaiza. This was revealed this Friday on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero by the now former Secretary of Organization of the PIL, Laureano Álvarez, shortly after submitting his resignation from this position.
Regarding the negotiations with CC and the PSOE to close an agreement in Arrecife, the islanders have demanded that the possible pact also extend to the Cabildo and the City Council of Haría (where their elected councilor and councilman would not be numerically necessary) and the City Council of San Bartolomé, where nationalists and socialists do need a third force.
Regarding the agreement with Acuña's new party, Unidos por Yaiza, it would mean that the PIL councillor would keep the areas of Youth, Sports and Culture, in addition to the second deputy mayorship. Beyond the fact that this pact is now signed, and although UPY was only one councillor away from an absolute majority, Acuña does not rule out incorporating a third force into the pact.
Once the alliance in Yaiza is formalized, and if it also manages to join all the municipalities where it intends to agree with CC and PSOE, the PIL could govern in the majority of Lanzarote's institutions after 24-M, in which it only obtained 8 public positions throughout the island.
