The deadline for submitting bids for the public tender ended last Monday, August 10, and Yaiza already has on the table, for technical evaluation, five company offers that are bidding for the contract for the provision of the new service of collection and transport to the island landfill of domestic waste generated in its municipality, as well as the supply, cleaning, and maintenance of containers. The City Council proposes the signing of a 10-year contract for around 36 million euros.
The mayor, Óscar Noda, highlights that "the objective of promoting this new tender has been to improve waste collection in all our towns, expanding and optimizing the service with much more efficient actions adapted to the growth of the resident and tourist population."
For this purpose, notes the Councilor for Cleaning, Rubén Arca, "the tender documents include the collection of organic waste, residual fraction, domestic oil, bulky items, electrical appliances, pruning, and the novelty of the installation of mobile clean points that will rotate through the towns of Yaiza."
The company that is awarded the contract also undertakes to collect construction and demolition waste that is abandoned in public spaces, constituting dumps, and likewise waste generated at parties, pilgrimages, and any event promoted by the City Council.
Now, and following the established legal procedure, Yaiza is preparing to review the documentation submitted by each company, the technical evaluation of each of the proposals and their economic offer, taking into account the technical and administrative requirements of the tender documents, to then proceed with its award and signing of the contract and commencement of the new service.
