The Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, Esther Monzón, visited the facilities of the Playa Honda Local Clinic this Thursday, in San Bartolomé, to learn firsthand about the healthcare needs of the municipality and held a meeting with the mayor of the town, Isidro Pérez, to analyze the situation.

The Playa Honda Local Clinic, belonging to the Arrecife I Basic Health Zone, has a total of 10,271 individual health cards assigned to it, of which 9,023 are for the adult population and the remaining 1,248 are for the pediatric population.

This health center has seven family care units, each composed of a family medicine professional and a nurse, two pediatric care units, each composed of a pediatrician and a nurse, as well as midwife care, a psychologist, two physiotherapists, a social worker for adults and another for pediatrics, a case manager nurse, and four administrative assistants.

Monzón recalled that, after five years, "the administrative procedure for the transfer of the land has finally been completed." "From now on, we can evaluate the project and see possible modifications if necessary," she explained.

The Minister of Health also held a meeting with the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, to analyze the health demands of this town where the Playa Blanca Health Center is located, a facility that requires expansion, once the land is available.
