Coalición Canaria (CC) Yaiza celebrated its Local Assembly for the renewal of the Local Committee this Monday, a meeting held at the Hotel Natura Palace in Playa Blanca in which **Emilio Machín was elected new local general secretary of the nationalist organization**, taking over from Mateo Ramón, who will assume the local Deputy General Secretary position. Alongside them, Estefanía Reyes will occupy the Organization Secretary position
With this event, led by CC member Yaiza Bruno Ramírez, CC Lanzarote and La Graciosa culminates the process of renewing its seven Local Committees and that of the Nationalist Youth, undertaken after Pedro San Ginés took over the leadership of the party. Along with the island secretary, the organization secretary, Olivia Duque, and the deputy secretary of Territorial Action, Municipal and Organizational Coordination, Aroa Revelo, also attended
Likewise, it had broad representation from party officials, including secretaries and members of the remaining Local Committees of the Canarian nationalist party in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, as well as public representatives, among whom the presence of the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stood out
Emilio Machín
In his first address as local secretary, Emilio Machín, current spokesperson for CC in the Yaiza City Council, had words of gratitude for the CC Yaiza militants: "Thank you for your trust, for every message, every gesture, every hug, and above all, for gifting me your time. I know that time is the most valuable thing we have, and I promise to take care of it, honor it, and transform it into orderly, clear, and useful work for my municipality."
Machín highlighted the human value of the team that will accompany him in this new stage: "They are not just colleagues, they are people who sustain this project with affection, loyalty, and an effort that is moving." He also wanted to emphasize the continuous work of Mateo Ramón and thanked him for continuing in the project with him, contributing his experience and knowledge.
The new local secretary of CC Yaiza underlined his "commitment to the municipality and to the need to drive change." Alluding to his role as spokesperson for the nationalists in the southern council, he highlighted that "the more I scrutinize this City Council, the clearer it becomes to me that Yaiza deserves a change. I accept this responsibility with the serenity of someone who loves their municipality and with the determination of those who know that it is time to move forward."
Mateo Ramón
For his part, the outgoing secretary, Mateo Ramón, reviewed his career since 1993, the years of reconstruction of the Committee, and his eight years at the helm of the organization in Yaiza. "Coalición Canaria has been my second home. It is not easy to leave this position after so many years. I was here when others left and I never abandoned it," he said
Ramón reviewed some achievements, especially in transportation, and stated that "the little that Yaiza has advanced in these years has been thanks to the work of Coalición Canaria. We have insisted again and again - yes, with much insistence - for transportation to improve in the south, and we will not stop until El Golfo, Las Breñas, Femés, and Playa Quemada have a bus line." Likewise, Mateo Ramón extended his hand to his successor and offered him his full support in the new stage that is beginning.
Pedro San Ginés
For his part, the insular secretary-general, Pedro San Ginés – who began his speech by remembering Félix Martín Hormiga, “an essential figure in the ideological construction of nationalism in Lanzarote” – dedicated special recognition to Mateo Ramón, of whom he stated that “a large part of what CC is today in Yaiza we owe to him”.
"Your delivery, your tireless dedication, and your persistence have sustained this project for years. You have been there through thick and thin, and you will continue to be there working for one of the most nationalist municipalities on the Island, but also one where Canarian nationalism is most atomized."In this regard, he pointed out that with Emilio Machín at the helm, the main objective now is to "build unity and dialogue," although he made it clear that CC is "prepared to go it alone if necessary, maintaining its own coherent proposal."Regarding the new local secretary, he indicated that "he has proven to be the right person to attract and open the organization to more people, consolidating what Mateo achieved and heralding a bright future for Coalición CC Yaiza." In this context, he demanded "greater sensitivity, attention, and support" from institutions for the Local Committee of the southern municipality.
Oswaldo Betancort
For his part, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that "Yaiza has advanced notably thanks to the work of Mateo Ramón and Coalición Canaria." He stressed that when a municipality consolidates infrastructure, "it is natural for its residents to also demand the arrival of more and better services, and CC has always risen to the occasion." Betancort recalled milestones achieved for the municipality of Yaiza by institutions governed by Coalición Canaria, such as the definitive removal of the marine cages from Playa Quemada - "a historic environmental problem that CC managed to solve" - or the investment of 40 million euros to modernize the port infrastructure of Playa Blanca. He also highlighted the reinforcement of public transport in the municipality, stating that "the bus used to be full and many residents were left without service, and today, thanks to the taxi-bus, residents of areas like Femés, El Golfo, or Playa Quemada finally have an alternative."In this context, he stated that "from east to west, Coalición Canaria has left its mark on Yaiza, improving the quality of life of its residents," through modernization plans, boosting local commerce, activating public works, and strengthening Playa Blanca's own identity."Emilio's situation has just begun. With your leadership, I am sure that we will continue to conquer, one by one, all the towns of Yaiza, demonstrating with actions that Coalición Canaria works for and for the people," he concluded, alluding to the new local secretary of the Canary nationalist party in the southern municipality.
