The strong wind and waves caused the fall of a wall on Tuesday afternoon in the Loro Verde area of Playa Honda. For this reason, the San Bartolomé City Council has initiated an urgent action to proceed with the restoration of the areas damaged by the storm that affected the municipality, with a special impact on the areas closest to the sea.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has stated that these works "are already being carried out in the environment, so that the safety of pedestrians can be guaranteed, risks can be minimized and a return to normality on the Avenue as soon as possible can be allowed."

Regarding the actions that took place this Tuesday, Pérez thanked the collaboration of the local Police "who from the first moment acted to delimit the perimeter in the place, avoiding greater damage", as well as the Security and Emergency Consortium and the firefighters "who were asked to collaborate to reinforce the device".

Despite the improvement of the meteorological situation, the mayor has asked the population to avoid circulating through the affected area in order to facilitate the repair work, and urges them to follow the safety recommendations indicated by the institutions.

From the first hour of this Wednesday, April 10, the municipal workers have been working in the surroundings of Playa Honda to proceed with the cleaning of the remains left by the storm and facilitate the reconstruction of the wall to the workers of the contracted company.

Among the places affected by the weather conditions of this Tuesday in the municipality is the Monumento al Campesino, from which some of the upper parts came off, for which the Cabildo de Lanzarote has been informed of the situation to assess the relevant actions and guarantee safety.
