The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands will rehabilitate the old Tahíche Hospitality School, to allocate it to the teaching of studies in the professional family of Hospitality and Tourism that are currently taught at the Teguise Secondary Education Institute (IES).
The Governing Council has authorized the signing of a collaboration agreement between this autonomous department and the Teguise City Council for the transfer, by the local corporation, of the facilities of that building and the rehabilitation of the spaces that will serve as a classroom, kitchen and pedagogical dining room for those Vocational Training (FP) teachings, which are attached to the IES Teguise.
As a result of this agreement, Education will allocate 188,257 euros to these works. The City Council agrees to transfer the use of the aforementioned spaces, as well as an area for the creation of an independent access to the facilities.
The Ministry will be responsible for designating the teaching staff who will teach these subjects from among its teaching staff and for determining all aspects related to the teaching activity, in addition to assuming the financing of the adaptation of the transferred spaces and facilities so that they meet the necessary conditions to teach the FP teachings of Hospitality and Tourism, as well as the maintenance costs of the facilities and the water and electricity services derived from teaching these studies.
Likewise, Education will allow the Teguise City Council to use the facilities during non-school hours and periods for the development of activities of municipal interest, such as holding courses, seminars and events, after notifying Education. The agreement is valid for four years and can be extended.
