The Local Police and Civil Protection Councilor of Arrecife, David Duarte, submitted a written request to the City Hall this Monday requesting that his release as councilor be withdrawn so that he can return to his job at the Cabildo, where he was on leave, as confirmed by sources from the Consistory.
According to these same sources, in the document registered electronically, Duarte explains that he is on "mandatory leave" and that he must return to his job at the first institution on April 5. Therefore, he requests that his release be withdrawn, although he will continue as a councilor of the governing group and in charge of the Local Police Department, but without receiving remuneration for it.
It should be remembered that last February, after winning the PSOE primaries, the mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, withdrew Duarte's Festivities, Tourism and Roads and Works departments that he had been managing until then in order to "make a change in the activity carried out".
However, although De Anta then denied that it was a "disavowal" of his management, both had been dragging disagreements for some time. In fact, although Duarte himself did not believe that the mayor had withdrawn the departments "out of revenge", he did not deny then that he was one of those behind the collection of signatures for primaries to be held in the capital.
