Saharawi protest in Arrecife

Dozens of Saharawis residing on the island have gathered this Friday in front of the old Cabildo to demand "freedom" for their people and condemn the change in position of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who has supported Morocco's claim over this territory.

“Free and independent Sahara, like all peoples,” they have demanded in the act, in which they have denounced that they do not want to be “slaves of the Kingdom” Moroccan.

In the act they have been supported by politicians from various parties, such as Coalición Canaria and Lanzarote en Pie, but also by members of Podemos, which governs together with the PSOE in the central Executive.

“We want it to be clear: Podemos will always support the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people and the right to recover their territories and the free Sahara. Count on us always,” said regional parliamentarian María del Río, who took the floor during the concentration.
