The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, through the Department of Transport, has enabled a special public transport service for the celebration of the Fiestas de Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores 2026. The objective is to facilitate the movement of residents and visitors and promote safer and more sustainable mobility during the main events scheduled in Mancha Blanca.
The special plan includes reinforcing the bus service during the Romería de Los Dolores, which will be held on Saturday, September 12, as well as additional services for the religious events and the concert on Tuesday, September 15. In total, 22 buses will be available to handle the special operation for the Romería.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlights that "the Fiestas de Los Dolores are one of the great celebrations of our island and we want them to be enjoyed with all guarantees, making it easier for citizens to travel by public transport and leave their private vehicles at home."
"From the Cabildo, we are making a significant effort in planning and coordination to respond to the increase in demand during these days, especially at peak times. The goal is for public transport to be a comfortable, safe, and effective alternative to go to Mancha Blanca and then return to your municipalities," adds Betancort.
For his part, the Minister of Transport, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, explains that "we have designed a specific plan that concentrates the greatest reinforcements on the days and times when higher demand is expected, adapting the routes to traffic conditions and road closures that may occur."
"During the Romería on Saturday, September 12, there will be special outbound services from Arrecife to Mancha Blanca from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with an approximate frequency of 30 minutes, while return services will run from 1:00 PM until 5:00 AM on Sunday, September 13," Jiménez details.
Depending on the evolution of traffic, the outbound service will have Mancha Blanca as its destination until 4:00 PM and from 11:00 PM onwards, while between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM it will end in Tinguatón, with provisional stops enabled. Likewise, the return service will adapt its starting point between Mancha Blanca and Tinguatón depending on the schedule and road conditions.
Special Services on September 15th
On Tuesday, September 15th, coinciding with the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, special public transport services will also be enabled to facilitate attendance at the different events.
On the occasion of the Merengazo, return services will be established from Mancha Blanca to Arrecife at 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM, with the possibility of making more trips if demand requires it.
For religious services, special outbound services will be enabled from Arrecife to Mancha Blanca at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, while return services will take place at 10:15 AM and 3:30 PM.
Likewise, on the occasion of the concert by singer Malú, special outbound services will be carried out at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and return services at 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM, again considering the possibility of extending the number of trips from Mancha Blanca depending on demand.
Temporary Joint Taxi Service Area
The mobility device is completed with an exceptional measure to reinforce the taxi supply during the nights of highest demand. The Cabildo has established, exceptionally and temporarily, a Joint Service Area for taxis in the municipality of Tinajo on Saturday, September 12th, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on Sunday the 13th, and on Monday, September 14th, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM on Tuesday the 15th.
This measure will allow the Tinajo City Council, in the event of a considerable volume of demand and when no taxis are available in the area, to request units from other municipalities through their corresponding control centers.
"With this measure, we take another step to ensure that there is sufficient transport supply during peak hours and, at the same time, we strengthen coordination between administrations and the taxi sector," concludes Miguel Ángel Jiménez.
Finally, the Cabildo recommends that citizens use public transport during the festivities and pay special attention to schedules, routes, and possible modifications due to traffic conditions and the organization of the various events.
