After six years, since the last union elections were held at the Tías City Council, the municipal staff has spoken clearly at the polls. The Independent Union and Civil Servants Confederation (CSIF) has emerged as the leading union force among civil servants, following the elections, by obtaining an absolute majority of representation on the Staff Board, securing 3 out of 5 delegates, and garnering more votes than UGT and CCOO combined.

With this majority endorsement from the polls, the new CSIF representation begins this stage with the "firm intention to restart negotiations for the new Collective Agreement and the Agreement for all public employees to finally bring them to a successful conclusion". The priority objective is to "modernize the labor situation of public employees of the Tías City Council, adapting it to the real needs of the staff and the current public service".

CSIF approaches the negotiation with "a constructive spirit and a willingness to reach consensus, with the confidence that the commitments made in the Plenary session of 2024 will be materialized, without delay, and with concrete progress".

The union makes its roadmap clear: "We come with full willingness to sit down and negotiate and build agreements from day one, but we come to genuinely improve the current situation. Our outstretched hand for dialogue is sincere, but we will not tolerate dialectical evasions or unjustified delays. The staff has waited too long and it is time to translate political commitments into facts and signed documents".

Bridging the gap for the general interest

Despite holding an absolute majority on the Staff Board, CSIF emphasizes that "its sole driving force in this new stage is to defend the general interest of all public employees of the council and not, solely, that of those who have given them their vote".

With this "inclusive spirit", the union announces that it "will work from now on to bridge the gap and seek unity of action with the other union forces represented, both on the Staff Board itself and in the General Negotiation Table". "We want a solid and lasting agreement that modernizes the Tías City Council, and the best way to achieve this is through firmness in objectives and consensus among the workers' representation," CSIF concludes.
