Cristina Calero: "We must put all the necessary resources to face vicarious violence"

The nationalist deputy explained that, "although we are not guilty, we are responsible, not only in politics but as citizens"

The deputy of the Canarian Nationalist Group (CCa), Cristina Calero, pointed out in the Plenary of the Parliament of the Canary Islands that vicarious violence "is the most cruel and ruthless weapon against women", causing irreparable damage. In this sense, Calero recalled that since 2013, the year in which it began to be counted, more than 40 boys and girls have been murdered by their fathers or partners of their mothers.

The nationalist deputy explained that, "although we are not guilty, we are responsible, not only in politics but as citizens." "Although it is not easy to detect it, it is not impossible," added Calero. In this sense, the parliamentarian explained that "there are risks, indicators and conflict situations in which the focus should be placed".

In her presentation, the deputy of Coalición Canaria stated the suitability of the PNL presented by Nueva Canarias and explained that the proposals made by the Nationalist Group aim to "take advantage of existing resources and ensure that this PNL is carried out".

Likewise, Cristina Calero detailed that "the proposals of the Nationalist Group are based on the use of inclusive language, especially when talking about vicarious violence; proposals to take advantage of, improve and encourage the resources and entities that already exist both by the Ministry of Welfare and through the Canarian Institute of Equality (ICI)".

Calero valued the trajectory of the ICI both in terms of care for victims, as well as in the prevention and approach to gender violence and specifically to vicarious violence, "because they have a trajectory and experience that we cannot lose." "Proof of this is that the ministry itself has dedicated November 25 to vicarious violence," added the nationalist deputy.

In the educational field, Cristina Calero explained that "it is important that equality plans develop their full potential and educational agents are provided with resources for their detection." Likewise, she valued the role of justice in the "fight against this scourge." In this sense, she emphasized the work that is being done to have trained personnel in the field and with technical means and spaces, "such as the Gesell rooms in which to adequately care for the victims".

The deputy expressed the support of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group "to continue working on all proposals that lead to eradicating this reality. "Because the love that is asked for is not love. Because love does not kill or hurt or injure or take away what you love most and anything that does is anything but love," concluded Cristina Calero.
