The Local Committee of Coalición Canaria in Arrecife expresses its deep sorrow for the sudden passing of Cristina Calero, a colleague and friend, whose career was marked by her commitment to her municipality and her island, her vocation for public service, and a deep sensitivity towards people.
Cristina developed a distinguished political career as a parliamentarian for the Canarian Nationalist Group and a councilor in the Arrecife City Council, in addition to being part of the youth wing of Coalición Canaria, where she began to build a career linked to the values of Canarian nationalism.
But, beyond her public responsibilities, Cristina was, above all, a teacher with a deep vocation for education. A woman convinced that teaching is also about accompanying, listening, and offering opportunities. Her commitment to education and to people was a constant in her life, as was her closeness to social groups and her sensitivity to the needs of those who require the most support.
Her way of understanding politics was linked to that same vocation of service: being close to people, listening to their concerns, and working to respond to the real problems of society. A form of commitment that transcended positions and was part of her way of being and relating to others.
The local secretary of Coalición Canaria in Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, on behalf of the Committee, conveys his affection and condolences to Cristina's family, friends, and colleagues.
“Today is a very sad day for our organization and for all the people who were fortunate enough to share a part of our lives with Cristina. We lose a colleague, but also a committed woman, a teacher passionate about education, and a person who always kept others in mind. It is difficult to find words in the face of such a loss. We are left with her memory, her example, and all that she contributed to this land and to those of us who had the good fortune to know her,” Eugenio points out.
Coalición Canaria in Arrecife joins the grief of her loved ones and all those who mourn her loss today, with the conviction that her commitment and human quality will remain in the memory of those who knew her.
