The Lanzarote parliamentarian from the Canarian Nationalist Group, Cristina Calero, has once again brought the situation of the expansion of the IES Altavista, in Arrecife, to the Parliament of the Canary Islands to inquire about the development of the planned actions and the improvement of the facilities of this educational center, created ten years ago in the Lanzarote capital.
Calero, who already inquired about the situation of the institute in 2024, has conveyed to the Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands the need to carry out detailed monitoring of the planned actions, taking into account the current needs of the Altavista neighborhood and its educational community, as well as future needs, given the population growth expected in this area of the city.
The deputy has emphasized that educational centers "perform a function that goes beyond teaching, as they constitute reference spaces for coexistence and community activity in neighborhoods." In this regard, she has highlighted the importance of the expansion of the IES Altavista, which includes, in addition to new educational facilities, the construction of a sports pavilion for the neighborhood.
For Cristina Calero, these infrastructures "contribute to the development of neighborhoods and favor the integration of the population in their surroundings, which is why she considers it necessary to know the evolution of the planned actions to respond to the needs of the educational community and all the residents of Altavista."
The nationalist parliamentarian has thus reiterated her interest in monitoring this project, with the aim that the expansion of the IES Altavista will improve the center's facilities and reinforce its role as an educational, sports, and social space for the neighborhood.
