Corujo: "Torres informs Jesús Machín of his government's willingness to move the juvenile center as quickly as possible"

In addition, the Government commits to carry out the referrals of conflictive minors "without any delay, always guaranteeing that the number of minors hosted does not exceed the capacity of the center."

The secretary of the insular PSOE and candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Parliament of the Canary Islands has reported that Ángel Víctor Torres has informed the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, that "the minors' center of La Santa will be moved as quickly as possible."

Corujo explained that, since Sunday night, Ángel Víctor Torres and herself have been in permanent contact with Jesús Machín, following the events that have occurred in La Santa.

"The mayor has given a lesson in responsibility, while others fueled the conflict, he focused on finding solutions," Corujo declared, who pointed out that, as a result of these conversations, the commitment has been adopted, by President Torres, to send a unit of the Canarian Police, which will arrive on the island next Wednesday, to prevent any attempt to generate conflicts.

In addition, Ángel Víctor Torres informed the mayor of Tinajo that he will maintain permanent coordination with the Social Rights area of the Government of the Canary Islands so that the referrals of conflictive minors are carried out without any delay, always guaranteeing that the number of minors hosted does not exceed the capacity of the center.

These measures will be complemented by the Cabildo which, as Corujo reported, has already reinforced the provision of guards in the center, to guarantee its security.

"A problem has arisen and we have provided an immediate solution," explained the current president of the Cabildo and insular secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, who continued: "There is no doubt about this situation and we must preserve order in the center and in La Santa. In the event of any case of manifest conflict by any of the inmates, we will again demand their immediate transfer and we will maintain the necessary coordination with the Government of the Canary Islands so that Tinajo recovers its shelter and the minors have adequate facilities."

The hour of responsibility

"While the president, the mayor and myself were carrying out the necessary steps to restore normality to La Santa, others were dedicated to inflaming the spirits of the most exalted people in the town," Corujo reproached, who lamented that "some dreamed that a more serious incident would occur thinking about the votes instead of putting the safety of their people first."

The leader of the PSOE of Lanzarote concluded by stating: "It is the hour of responsibility, of serious work and the search for solutions, everything else is superfluous."
