Compromiso por Haría (CxH) has responded to the accusations made by José Torres Stinga, councilor of the Municipal Platform of Haría, during his intervention this Tuesday on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, in which he assured that a councilor of the formation would have been stealing electricity from the town hall and committing an alleged urbanistic infraction.

The organization has rejected "categorically" these statements, which it considers lacking in veracity, and frames them within what it defines as "an old, dirty, and muddy politics." In this regard, it warns that it reserves the right to take legal action against what it understands as a partisan and personal use of municipal information and resources.

During his intervention on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote, Torres Stinga stated that he had recently become aware of a “very clear urbanistic infraction”, pointing out that the councilor would have carried out nocturnal works using the butrón system. Likewise, he indicated that there is a report from the Local Police about these facts and that the City Council is preparing a technical report to determine possible actions, although for the moment no complaint has been filed.

The councilor also accused members of the opposition of trying to influence municipal technical decisions and of resorting to the splitting of contracts when the reports do not support their proposals.

From Compromiso por Haría they consider that these demonstrations seek “to intimidate and obstruct” their opposition work. “Torres Stinga has to understand that this is not the old west and that they are not the sheriffs”, they point out, while assuring that they will continue to denounce what they describe as “lack of responsibility” and the “paralysis” of the municipality.

The party links these statements to the recent press release in which they demanded the reopening of the Arrieta footbridge, underscoring the importance of this infrastructure for the residents and criticizing the lack of initiatives on the part of the governing group for its recovery.

“Let them stop throwing balls out and explain to the citizenry why they do not plan to act on a public space of utmost importance on La Garita beach,” they insist from CxH.

Finally, Compromiso por Haría reiterates the “integrity and honorability” of its councilors and calls on the governing group to practice politics with institutional respect, avoiding “fallacies and personal slanders”.
