Compromiso por Haría has once again alerted to the economic situation of the Haría City Council following an extraordinary plenary session to recognize invoices worth thousands of euros. The municipal organization recalls that in April last year it had already spoken out critically about the use and abuse of these procedures by the governing group, considering that "this is an example of the disastrous economic management carried out by Alfredo Villalba and his councilors: with this new recognition, they amount to almost half a million euros in less than eight months".
"Extrajudicial recognition of debt are exceptional procedures in budgetary legislation. They cannot become commonplace, and their constant repetition shows that something is failing: Alfredo Villalba is leading the Haría City Council to provide services outside the usual legal framework," states Ambrosio Viñoly.
Alfredo Villalba is a risk to Haría's economic stability
Compromiso por Haría points out that the governing group led by Alfredo Villalba "is acting against the interests of the municipality, causing irreversible damage to the Haría City Council by abusing extrajudicial recognitions and exposing the council and its inhabitants to the risk of providing services precariously".
The party emphasizes that these procedures are in many cases "awarded verbally, without legal coverage, shredding minor contracts in breach of the Public Sector Contracts Law, and disregarding minimum guarantees".
"Alfredo Villalba's economic management is creating a procedural hole in the public treasury that is difficult to solve. This legislature was key to laying the foundations for the budgetary regulation of the City Council; however, Villalba's years in office leave a legacy of great improvisation and disorder," considers Viñoly.
More than half a million euros in one year
Compromiso por Haría recalls that this new recognition is in addition to others made so far this calendar year and points out that "almost half a million euros have been processed through irregular procedures".
“An important part of the money of the families of the municipality of Haría is being used irregularly and outside of regulated procedures. This fraudulent use of public funds can lead to very serious legal consequences, both for the councilors of the governing group and for the City Council. We demand that Alfredo Villalba end the obscurantism and lack of rigor in the use of public funds: almost half a million euros in irregular invoices is a very worrying figure,” concludes Viñoly.
