CNT has denounced "irregularities" in the Job Bank of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo before the Labor Inspectorate and the Common Deputy.
"They have dismissed all temporary workers, not only from the Job Bank, but also temporary workers hired by temporary employment agencies, justifying it with the health crisis of Covid-19, leaving the vast majority without unemployment benefits," the union states.
In a statement, CNT states that "the irregularities in the last two calls for the CACT Job Bank have been very numerous", stating that in essence "an opposition contest was called that was not really one, since the workers ended up being hired with contracts for work and service and causes of production". "What's more, we are not aware that the Bases of the same have been published in the Official Gazette," it points out.
"The content of the bases of the calls for the Job Bank has been very deficient, almost without any labor legal content. Then, when it came to carrying out the access tests, an ETT, Activa Trabajo Canarias, was given power, which we understand has violated the data protection law by the company EPEL-CACT Lanzarote," adds CNT.
"The working conditions have been cheated"
The union explains that what was denounced before the Labor Inspectorate and the Common Deputy of the Canary Islands refers not only to the 2019 Job Bank, but also to the previous call in 2018, "under identical conditions".
In this regard, it indicates that "while it is true that both were called under the government of the Canarian Coalition, the new incoming government has not been able to reverse the situation and improve the conditions." "We understand, from CNT, that the working conditions of those who presented themselves, were chosen and have worked in the Tourist Centers have been cheated, and the repeated fraud in public contracting should have been recognized by the public administration, making the employment relationship of the workers indefinite," it considers.
According to CNT, "the assignment of contracts, once the selective process has been passed, has been carried out irregularly, even advancing on numerous occasions contracts through ETT to those of the Job Bank itself, thus failing to comply with the EPEL-CACT collective agreement".
"Even more regrettable have been the dismissals, leaving workers without benefits during this Covid-19 health crisis," adds the union, which also criticizes that it has to "endure the recent references of the CEO, alluding to eliminating acquired rights of the permanent staff workers." "A complete nonsense," he adds.
Believes that if the Works Council does not propose a strike, it will be "complicit"
Likewise, CNT considers that if the Works Council does not propose a strike soon, "it will be complicit in this new government in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, since they were able to call a strike in the Tourist Centers for much less money than the CEO now dares to eliminate without having a technical report on the matter, since he has announced that he will first eliminate the acquired right and subsequently request said report, a barbarity."
"It is noticeable that this man has been signed for fear of having him as a political rival against the PSOE and not for his knowledge of labor rights," they point out from CNT, from where they encourage the workers of the Centers to claim "their acquired rights, as well as the repeated fraud in hiring and seniority in the company".
