The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Public Works area, is currently carrying out cleaning work on drains in anticipation of the arrival of the rainy season.
“It is our obligation to keep the roads tidy, even more so when the rains are approaching, so the drains must be completely clean to avoid possible flooding,” explains the vice president, Jacobo Medina.
These days these works are focusing on the road that connects the Uga roundabout with the town of Femés. “With the help of a mechanical shovel, together with the great work of the workers of the road conservation service, we managed to completely tidy up the drains in the event of possible flooding,” says Medina.
In this sense, the Cabildo already carried out the cleaning of the drains on the LZ-3, Arrecife ring road, weeks ago, due to the large number of plants that emerged in the median and in the drains of the highway. “This posed a danger, not only with the arrival of rains, but also due to the significant growth of these plants that even blocked the visibility of some vertical signs,” added Medina.
The main objective of this cleaning is to ensure that the "drainage of the road is clean" and that "there is no drainage problem" when these possible rains occur.
