The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Public Works area and the roadsides team, has announced that it has "intensified throughout this year the cleaning and conservation work of the margins of all the island's roads", acting in a coordinated manner in the seven municipalities of the island.

So far in 2025, a total of 693,560 kilos of biodegradable waste have been removed from the island's roads. In the month of August alone and until this past Monday, the figure reaches 64,160 kilos, which reflects the magnitude and constancy of the work carried out by the operators in each of the municipalities, from Yaiza to Haría, passing through Teguise, Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Tinajo and Tías.

These tasks are part of the island improvement and maintenance plan to guarantee road safety and beautify the entrances to towns and cities. A task that, according to the first island institution, also "contributes directly to reinforcing the image of Lanzarote as a sustainable and quality tourist destination, where the care of the landscape and the environment is a priority".

The Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, stressed that "the maintenance of the roadsides not only contributes to improving driving safety and preventing risks, but is also a firm commitment to sustainability and the good image of the island, which is one of our greatest values as a society and as a leading tourist destination."

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has thanked the work of the roadsides team, which "with its daily effort allows progress towards the objective of having safer, cleaner and visually cared for island roads, acting constantly in all corners of the island and thus offering a better experience to both residents and visitors".
