The Lanzarote Island Council, through its Public Works Department, has launched contracts aimed at renewing and improving the Christmas image of the island during the upcoming festivities.
The Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that these initiatives "seek for Lanzarote to shine again with the warmth and charm it deserves on such special dates, reinforcing the identity and care of our public spaces." As he explained, these are actions that combine tradition, aesthetics, and maintenance of the island environment.
**The first tender includes the design, installation, assembly, maintenance, and dismantling** of the Christmas lighting and ornamentation for the Cabildo's roundabouts. The counselor emphasized that "the lighting is a symbol that accompanies thousands of families during Christmas, and we want our roundabouts to convey that joy and spirit that so identifies the island."
The second tender corresponds to the supply and installation of the traditional decorations that fill the roadsides and roundabouts of Lanzarote with color every December. In Medina's words, "they are small details that enhance the island's image; Christmas is also experienced in how we care for our surroundings."
Both actions will allow the island to offer a renewed, welcoming, and festive image, reinforcing the presence of Christmas at the main entrances and island roads.
Companies interested in Christmas decorations have until November 24, 2025, at 09:00 AM to submit their proposals. On the other hand, for the tender for traditional decoration on verges and roundabouts, the deadline will be open until November 25, 2025 at 09:00 AM.
