CEIP Güime will expand its facilities with a new multipurpose room and an adapted bathroom

The mayor highlights that this work at the school had been "waiting for more than a decade"

Visit to the Güime School

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, visited the CEIP Güime together with the Councilor for Education, Alma María González, and the island director of Education, Celeste Callero, before the start of the works to expand the multipurpose room and create an accessible toilet, being received by the director of the center, Pino Alemán, and other members of the teaching staff.

Also present at the visit were the support architect in the Technical Unit of the Island Directorate of Lanzarote, Sandra Lorena Fernández, and the person in charge of the company that will carry out the works, Jonathan Rodríguez. The works will consist of the expansion of approximately 16 square meters of a single-story building attached to the school building, to be used as a multipurpose room for the educational center. At the same time, another space in the center is equipped as a PMR bathroom for students with special or motor needs.

The maximum execution period of the work is 5 months and is financed by the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, which has awarded the project to the company Isla de Los Volcanes through a minor contract.

According to the Consistory, the works will be carried out in the afternoon, so as not to interfere with teaching hours. After the visit, the mayor thanked the island director of Education "for the effort and great work done to make this work finally a reality, after more than a decade of waiting".
