Yoné Caraballo, a deputy from Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC), and the majority of the other groups in the Parliament of the Canary Islands have rejected this Wednesday the non-binding proposal (PNL) presented by Vox on the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote. In this PNL, the far-right politician Nicasio Jesús Galván has pointed out that one of the causes of the deterioration of healthcare in the archipelago is the spending on medical care for migrants.

In this regard, Galván has stated that 26 million euros are allocated to healthcare for migrants, so "there is a lot to cut." "We do not deny urgent healthcare to anyone, what we are doing is opening the healthcare system to everyone and in the end, with the same staff and infrastructure, if we become the hospital of the world, there will be tensions," he stressed.

In his response, the Lanzarotean parliamentarian Yoné Caraballo has described this PNL as "trash". "When I started reading it, the message of hate contained in these three pages defines who you are, and I want the people of Lanzarote and the Insular Hospital to know," he indicated.

Regarding the expenditure of 26 million euros on medical care for migrants, Caraballo asked: "And the blondes with blue eyes who are in the health centers of Puerto del Carmen, Mogán, Corralejo, Jandía, or Costa Calma, have you gone to those health centers to see if there are any black or Arab children there? What you have there are blondes with blue eyes who also represent an expense to Social Security."

The Nueva Canarias parliamentarian pointed out that healthcare spending on tourists in the Canary Islands amounted to 24 million euros in 2023. "I haven't heard you talk about this here at all," he criticized.

"We do not have a health center in Playa Blanca to attend to thousands of tourists, we have designed it to attend to the local people, as you say," he stated.

Yoné Caraballo concluded his speech by stating that "what they hide behind social policies is their ideology of hate," referring to Vox. After that, he tore up the pages of the non-binding proposal from the far-right party, at the same time saying that "this one is not going in the drawer, this one is going in the trash."

For their part, Coalición Canaria, through its president David Toledo, also reproached the Vox parliamentarian, stating that "all your initiatives have to do with hate, division, immigration, and all the concepts that create polarization in this society."
