The Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, headed by Pablo Rodríguez, has commissioned the public company GESTUR Canarias S.A. to develop and execute the environmental restoration project for the margins of the LZ-3 road, the Arrecife ring road, on the island of Lanzarote.

The action, which has been driven by the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure, headed by Francisco González, will have a total budget of 1,825,000 euros, financed with the Canary Islands Autonomous Community's own funds, and will have a twelve-month execution period. The contract includes the drafting of the construction project and the execution of the works, with the aim of improving the landscape, ecological, and environmental integration of this road infrastructure.

The project will make it possible to recover degraded spaces, improve the image of the access to the capital of Lanzarote, and foster greater harmony between the road and its urban and natural surroundings, through environmental and landscape restoration actions adapted to the territory's characteristics.

The Minister of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, Pablo Rodríguez, stated that "this action will allow for the comprehensive completion of the Arrecife ring road, incorporating environmental and landscape restoration that was pending for years."Rodríguez has emphasized that "the project goes beyond an aesthetic improvement, as it corrects accumulated impacts, improves the integration of the road into its urban environment, and applies sustainability criteria adapted to the reality of Lanzarote, in line with the BIOCRIT project and the Pact for the Landscape."Finally, he highlighted that "since the beginning of our term, we have prioritized completing key infrastructures not only from a functional point of view but also an environmental one, because mobility must go hand in hand with respect for the territory."

The initiative is part of regional policies aimed at improving the scenic quality of road infrastructure, in line with the environmental and territorial guidelines of the island of Lanzarote and with the criteria of sustainability and adaptation to the island's landscape.
