The Island Executive Committee of the Canary Coalition Lanzarote has given the green light to the calendar that will mark the course of the VII Island Congress, which will be held on May 24, at the Civic Center of Costa Teguise, and will feature the participation of 255 delegates.

Under the slogan "Roots that unite us. Future that drives us", the nationalist formation faces this important event as an opportunity to strengthen its organizational model and define the keys to the future of the island, reaffirming its commitment to identity, cohesion, and sustainability.

The Island Executive has also designated those responsible for the two presentations that will be debated and worked on during the congress day and will mark the axis of the same.

Thus, Orlando Umpiérrez (Arrecife) and Tomás Febles (Yaiza) will be in charge of the Organic Presentation: Island and Local Regulations, which will address the adaptation of the regulations to the new organizational structure and the incorporation of key figures to reinforce internal structuring and the participation of local committees.

For their part, Jesús Machín Tavío (Tinajo) and Corín Machín (San Bartolomé) will be in charge of the Political Presentation, under the title "Lanzarote, towards a sustainable future". This strategic document will propose a roadmap for the development of the island, focused on the demographic challenge, population roots, a quality tourism model, urban planning regulation, and sustainability as a transversal axis of the economic, social, and territorial model.

The current general secretary, Migdalia Machín, has highlighted "the importance of the entire process and stressed that it will be a highly representative and participatory Congress".

"The VII Island Congress will be attended by 255 delegates, elected in representation of the seven local organizations, La Graciosa and the Youth Organization, thus guaranteeing a plural and territorially balanced participation. The distribution of delegates responds to criteria of proportionality based on the population, the number of affiliates and the electoral results of the Canary Coalition in each municipality, as well as the youth representation and that of La Graciosa", said the nationalist leader.

The pre-congress process thus officially begins with the approval of the calendar and the election of speakers. Next, the local assemblies have until May 2 to elect their delegates. On that day, the presentations will be delivered to the Island Executive, which will be debated in the local committees from May 5 to 14. The deadline for the presentation of amendments concludes on May 15, and the elaboration of documents and materials of the Congress will be carried out between May 16 and 21. On May 22, a meeting will take place between speakers and local representatives, and on May 23 the submission of candidacies will be closed.
