The Local Assembly of the Canary Coalition in Arrecife held this Tuesday, April 29, was the first to designate its delegates for the VII Island Congress of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, which will take place on May 24 at the Costa Teguise Civic Center under the slogan “Roots that unite us. Future that drives us.”

In total, 69 delegates will represent Arrecife, this being the Committee with the largest representation of the seven municipal organizations, in addition to the delegates from La Graciosa and the Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote (JNL).

The election of delegates is carried out following proportionality criteria established in the Congress regulations: number of members, institutional representation, electoral results and registered population.

In total, 255 delegates will participate in the Congress, distributed as follows: Arrecife 69, San Bartolomé 27, Yaiza 29, Teguise 33, Tinajo 24, Tías 23, Haría 20, JNL 25 and La Graciosa 5. Tonight, the election processes will continue with the assemblies of San Bartolomé, Yaiza and Teguise, while the rest will do so over the next few days.

The VII Island Congress will be a key space to define the new island leadership, with the election of the next island secretary, as well as to debate and approve the political and organizational reports that will mark the course of the Canary Coalition on the island for the coming years.

The slogan of the Congress, “Roots that unite us. Future that drives us,” symbolizes the commitment to the identity, cohesion and sustainability of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, reinforcing a vision of the future rooted in the territory and democratic participation.
