The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved this Monday two calls for grants aimed at supporting the activity of the island's primary sector through the financing of operating expenses for agricultural and livestock farms in Lanzarote and La Graciosa during the 2026 annual period.
The two lines of aid, managed by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, have a global allocation of 100,000 euros, distributed as 50,000 euros for agricultural farms and 50,000 euros for livestock farms, with the objective of compensating part of the costs faced by professionals in the sector to maintain their activity.
The president and counselor of Agriculture and Livestock of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that these calls "respond to an evident reality, our farmers and ranchers bear costs much higher than those in other territories due to the singularities of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, especially due to double insularity and the generalized increase in prices".
In the case of the line for agricultural farms, the aid will allow for the subsidization of expenses related to the acquisition of materials and inputs necessary for agricultural activity, such as volcanic gravel, soil, manure, seeds, plants, water, fuel, or phytosanitary products, as well as transport services, agricultural machinery, technical advice, and personnel hiring.
For its part, the line for livestock farms is aimed at covering operating expenses such as livestock feed, water transport in tanks, electricity supply, personnel hiring, and other costs associated with livestock activity.
The calls will be processed under a competitive tendering system and can be applied for once they are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, with interested parties having a period of fifteen business days to submit their applications. Likewise, the Insular Agrarian Service will inform about the opening of both calls through its official WhatsApp channel.
