The City Council will begin next Monday, September 21, the execution of the comprehensive rehabilitation project of seven roads in the residential and tourist area of Las Coloradas, in Playa Blanca, investing one million euros from the municipal budget. The first action in strengthening the surface, asphalt paving, signage, and accessibility is scheduled for Playa de Afre street, which will be temporarily closed for the development of works with an estimated duration of six days.
Yaiza requests that residents, property owners, establishments, and other affected users take these circumstances into account and always pay attention to the provisional signage and the instructions of the personnel in charge of the work. In Las Coloradas, the City Council will also act on Avenida Papagayo and the streets Las Palmeras, Ombú, El Moral, Las Buganvillas, and Las Acacias.
The mayor, Óscar Noda, highlights "the execution of the road improvement program and the elimination of architectural barriers in several points of Playa Blanca that experience incessant vehicular traffic, such as Avenida Papagayo, Las Coloradas, or the entrance to our tourist center from Femés. In these three projects alone, we are investing 4.9 million euros of municipal funds."
The Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, pleads for "the collaboration of neighbors, businesses, and accommodation complexes for any inconvenience these works may cause, which will improve road safety in the area. In any case, two weeks ago we already informed the hotels located in Las Coloradas so that they could make their arrangements regarding mobility."
Avenida Papagayo
The City Council is also advancing in the conditioning of the main artery of Playa Blanca, Avenida Papagayo. The project is in its second phase of execution, the section between Maciot and Janubio streets, a route that will be asphalted the week of September 28, which requires traffic closure. Once the renovation of sidewalks and accessibility works are completed, the work will continue with asphalt paving and signage. Yaiza also appeals for citizen understanding regarding these temporary road closures.
