The Arrecife City Council plans to build a walkway and ramp area on El Cable beach in the new year 2026, which will allow access to the water area.

The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, has developed during this part of the term the technical project that will allow the execution of this accessible area, in the vicinity of the Insular Center for Nautical Sports. The technical proposal, which the capital's City Council has already sent to the Directorate General of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space, foresees – due to the orography of this intertidal zone, providing a walkway and ramp to allow bathing at both low and high tide.

The Department of Beaches and Environment, headed by councilwoman Davinia Déniz, already has the project and has requested from the Coastal Authority, with the endorsement of the plenary agreement – approved unanimously by the Corporation in its last plenary session on Friday, November 28 – the administrative concession that will allow the works to be put out to tender during the first quarter of 2026.

Davinia Déniz has detailed that her department has promoted a plan to improve accessibility on the beaches throughout the municipality of Arrecife. The work on El Cable beach is part of this plan, following the recent completion of accessibility improvements at La Arena beach, near the Castillo de San José, with an investment of around half a million euros, including the renovation of a section of the pedestrian promenade between the Castillo de San José and the Los Mármoles area.
