Youth Arrecife, a council led by Rosmen Quevedo, is launching the Esports Challengers League 2025 this summer, a free, in-person video game league that will tour various neighborhoods of the capital from July 11 to August 12 with the aim of bringing the gamer universe closer to the youth of Arrecife and Lanzarote in general.
The competition will kick off on July 11 at the Valterra Sociocultural Center and will continue on July 18 at the Argana Baja Sociocultural Center, July 25 at the El Zaguán Citizen Participation Center in Argana Alta, and August 1 at the San Francisco Javier Sociocultural Center. These qualifying rounds will have 50 euros in gaming material as a prize for each winner and will take place from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
The grand final will be held from 5:00 PM on August 12 at the Youth Center, located in the Titerroy neighborhood, and will award the winner with 300 euros in material plus a pass to the semifinals of the Esports Arrecife 2025, while the second-place finisher will receive 100 euros for gaming material. It will feature the presence of Andy el Messi, a professional FC2025 player, and Meto, a professional caster who will narrate the matches live.
Throughout Arrecife
"With this initiative, we want to continue bringing leisure and youth entertainment proposals to all corners of Arrecife while also providing meeting spaces that foster their social relationships and where the talent of our young people can flourish," said Rosmen Quevedo during the presentation of the event this Wednesday at the Youth Center in an event that also included the attendance of the co-founders of the Esports Challengers League 2025, Samuel Rodríguez and Cristóbal Bernal.
This "gaming neighborhood league," as defined by its organizers, "promotes local talent, youth participation, and responsible gaming, uniting young participants around two major titles: Tekken 8, the classic fighting game par excellence, and EA Sports FC2025, the most popular football simulator in the world," its promoters pointed out at the event.
Registration is open to young people from all over the Canary Islands, although priority will be given to those who reside in the municipality of Arrecife. Minors must present authorization from their legal guardians. Registrations can be formalized through the official portal or by writing to the email inscripciones@esportschallengers.com.
