Arrecife transforms Mina street to improve mobility and accessibility in key neighborhoods

The 3 million euro work includes new sidewalks, storm drains, lighting, and shade areas, and coincides with the delivery of the first 200 social housing units of Maneje

El alcalde Yonathan de León adelanta que la transformación de la calle Mina estará culminada coincidiendo con la entrega de las primeras 200 viviendas de Maneje

The Arrecife City Council has started at the end of March the transformation works of Mina street, a key thoroughfare that connects the neighborhoods of Altavista, Tinasoria and Maneje through the Circunvalación bridge, in the direction of the municipal cemetery.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has explained that the intervention focuses on the section between Los Geranios school and the Circunvalación bridge, a strategic point given the upcoming delivery of the first 200 social housing units in Maneje, built on land ceded by the City Council.

The modernization of Mina street seeks to improve mobility between neighborhoods and reinforce accessibility and lighting. In addition, it is carried out in parallel with the transformation of the interior streets of Tinasoria, a neighborhood created nearly 40 years ago with social housing, which will also feature new sidewalks, a storm drain network, complete repaving, and shaded areas with trees watered by an underground irrigation network. The total investment amounts to 3 million euros.

Yonathan de León highlighted that the work is part of a broader municipal plan to modernize neighborhoods and improve circulation, coinciding with the delivery of the first 200 homes in Maneje. In the next two years, another 200 social housing units executed by Visocan on municipal land will be added, whose tender is already in the award phase.

The new design of Mina street also includes the undergrounding of the public lighting and telecommunications network, and will allow providing sidewalks to several sections that until now lacked them. Furthermore, the City Council is working on future tenders to reinforce mobility towards Maneje, with actions on Los Geranios Avenue and the creation of new direct accesses from the Ring Road (LZ-3) in collaboration with the Insular Department of Public Works.

With these actions, Arrecife advances in its objective of becoming a more accessible, modern capital with green spaces that improve the quality of life of its residents.
