The PSOE of Arrecife denounces what it considers an “authentic scandal in the management of public money” by the municipal government of Yonathan de León, after, according to the data handled by the socialists, the expense of the San Ginés festivals has reached 3,072,000 euros.
A figure that, for the PSOE, shows that the current governing group has taken municipal festive spending to “absolutely disproportionate” levels, while the residents of Arrecife continue to demand improvements in public services and city maintenance.
“Yonathan de León has turned the Arrecife festivals into a black hole of public money. We are talking about more than 272,000 euros daily during the festival period. It is an outrage and shows that this Government has no limits when it comes to spending everyone's money,” denounces the socialist councilor, Cristina Duque.
From the celebration of the opening speech to the end of the festivals on August 25, the City Council allocated an average of over 272,000 euros daily for revelry.
“Meanwhile, the mayor forgets to explain how much citizens are really costing. Three million euros are not confetti: they are public resources that come out of everyone's pockets, and seriousness in management is required,” points out Duque.
For the socialists, the problem is not the celebration of the San Ginés festivals, but the magnitude of the spending on the subculture of the cubalibre.
“Arrecife does not need a mayor who competes with an incompetent festival and finance councilor, to see who of the two burns more public money,” states the socialist leader.
