The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, headed by Maite Corujo, has announced the opening of the new tender for the Locksmith Service for the Protection of Women Victims of Gender Violence, a specialized resource that the City Council has been promoting since 2021 with the aim of strengthening security in the homes of affected women and their families.

The contract will have an initial duration of one year with the possibility of being extended for up to three more years. Companies interested in participating in the procedure may submit their offers until October 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. (Canarian time), through the Public Sector Procurement Platform. This service is financed by municipal funds and the State Pact against Gender Violence.

This is a continuity service that, after the completion of the previous tender, is renewed and updated to continue guaranteeing that those women in Arrecife with a protection order or a restraining order in force, as well as their daughters and sons, can live in a safer environment.

The novelty of this new procedure lies in the incorporation of technical improvements, since it includes state-of-the-art locks and cylinders that were not contemplated in previous contracts, which will allow offering greater guarantees against access attempts by aggressors.

The action protocol is clearly defined. From the request at the Local Police of Arrecife, it will be the one in charge of activating the device with the awarded company, which must appear at the address within a maximum period of 24 hours to proceed with the change of locks at the entrances of the house. The Arrecife City Council thus maintains a mechanism that reinforces the protection of women victims of gender violence and avoids situations of helplessness in the face of the risk of their aggressors accessing the home.

Councilor Maite Corujo has stressed that this is a "fundamental" service within the network of municipal resources to support victims. "Our commitment is firm: no woman should live in fear inside her own home. With this service, we guarantee that the most intimate and vital space for any person, their home, becomes a safe place for them and for their sons and daughters. This is a clear example of how the City Council works in a practical and effective way to protect lives and offer real support to those who need it most."

Those who need to access this resource can currently do so through the Local Police of Arrecife, which continues to manage requests with the awarded company while this new tender is being processed.
