The Ayuntamiento de Arrecife has announced that from 2:00 p.m. this Friday, February 27, all outdoor activities are suspended in the city due to the strong wind in Lanzarote, which has left gusts close to 80 kilometers per hour, according to data from the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has signed the mandatory decree for the suspension of outdoor activities. This suspension will be maintained until the pre-alerts and/or alerts are deactivated that the Dirección General de Seguridad y Emergencias del Gobierno de Canarias has issued.

From the City Council it is detailed that the events and activities that take place in municipal facilities in closed and covered buildings are maintained according to the programmed schedules. As is known, the Dirección General de Seguridad y Emergencias del Gobierno canario only had the island of Lanzarote in pre-alert mode due to this Dana. In other higher islands, the declaration was of alert.

From this Thursday, the Arrecife City Council has activated the PEMU, in pre-alert mode, given the forecasts, in addition to the winds, due to storms, rains and adverse coastal phenomena.

This Thursday the Local Police had to cordon off a road in the La Vega neighborhood due to the fall of debris from a boarded-up building, and during this Friday, both the Local Police and the Civil Protection Unit, attached to the Department of Security and Emergencies of the City Council, have been requested by residents due to the falls of Endesa's wiring, breakages in TV antennas located on some rooftops, movements in construction scaffolding, and a fall of a pole for lighting in a plot of land in the process of expropriation for decades in the El Lomo neighborhood- without yet being in the municipal patrimony- and that was used for outdoor activities.

The City Council has activated since this Thursday a contingent of personnel to assist the population, given the effects of this Dana that is affecting the Canary Archipelago. A contingent that continues providing service in this capital city.
