Yesterday, the Arrecife City Council transported to the port of Los Mármoles the first container with humanitarian aid for those affected by the heavy rains left by the DANA in Valencia and other areas of the Peninsula.
The container ship with this first shipment, which departs directly from the capital of Lanzarote, will set sail tonight from the port of Los Mármoles, in Arrecife, bound for Levante.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor for Security and Emergencies, Kevin Cortés, along with members of Civil Protection, were this morning in the container terminal area in the port area of the capital of Lanzarote. The city's first mayor has conveyed the city's gratitude to the firms Grutransmar, Wec Line and San Cargo, which are covering the costs of shipping this container to the port of Valencia by sea.
Yonathan de León has thanked "the great collaboration received from the citizens of Arrecife and Lanzarote who have joined this solidarity initiative of the Arrecife City Council, channeled through Civil Protection, for the shipment of non-perishable materials and products, which had previously been requested by Civil Protection Valencia."
The mayor also thanks "the great work that all the Civil Protection personnel, and many volunteers, have done under the coordination of the Security and Emergencies Councilor Kevin Cortés."
A week receiving great help from the rabbit population
The mayor has recalled that, "since last Saturday, from the afternoon hours, the rabbit population, volunteers and many companies, have turned to this solidarity initiative that has had as its epicenter the central warehouse of Civil Protection of Arrecife." Councilor Kevin Cortés has been directly involved in the coordination of this deployment, whose shipment will be received by Civil Protection Valencia, with whom he has been in contact and coordination.
Civil Protection Arrecife details that this first container of aid that is being sent is made up of materials destined for cleaning the areas affected by the rains, and specific products (buckets, shovels, wheelbarrows, water boots, etc.) requested from Valencia.
