The mayor of Arrecife and direct head of the Public Works Department of the capital city council, Yonathan de León, has allocated a team to carry out refurbishment and restoration work on the exteriors of the old La Marina school, where the old municipal market was located inside.
These improvements, which have been underway since last week, are part of the municipal plan to recover and enhance the entire historic center of Arrecife, in the vicinity of the San Ginés Obispo church.
Yonathan de León has emphasized that this work to renovate the exterior facade of this building, adjacent to the City Hall, is part of preserving the conservation and good image of municipal buildings, even more so in this area where the renovated Plaza de Las Palmas has recently been inaugurated, and the recovery of the exteriors of the Municipal Library and the parish hall (with direct action from the Parish).
Arrecife will tender this summer the works for the reopening of La Recova as a Food Market
The mayor has detailed that this specific action on the exteriors of this building of the old La Marina school will soon be complemented by a significant investment, through phases, which aims at the reopening of La Recova as a Food Market and gastronomic area, which will form a tandem with La Pescadería Municipal, whose works in this building will begin next September.
From the Department of Commerce and Tourism, headed by councilwoman Eli Merino, the tender for the interior renovation works of La Recova, which will open as a Food Market, is being finalized for this summer, also featuring a new dining area where people, residents or visitors, can taste and consume products from the primary sector purchased in the market.
This entire area near the church of San Ginés, listed as a historical monument, is re-emerging due to the recovery and enhancement works of this enclave, and the constant opening of businesses and establishments for restaurants and commerce.
